Love is most commonly defined as “a feeling of strong or constant affection for a person” (Merriam Webster), but it can also be defined as “warm attachment, enthusiasm, or devotion” (Merriam Webster), which encompasses someone’s love for a place or activity, rather than another being. This includes a love of nature; and a perfect natural place to love exists right here in Orange County!
The Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve (BCER) is the largest remaining coastal saltwater marsh in California between Monterey Bay and the Tijuana River Estuary, and is a vital resource for both coastal and inland residents of the state. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many natural spaces like Bolsa Chica have taken a beating due to increased visitation, and BCER can use all of the love it can get!
This Valentine’s Day, you can Show Your Love for the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve by donating to help support the Bolsa Chica Conservancy and our programs aimed at restoring the wetlands and teaching the importance of these vital ecosystems!
